T
Objectives of the ECP
Support GEOSS outcomes related to application of EO data for energies. Relevant areas are: · Siting · Design · Yield estimation · Resource monitoring Energy community: users of the energy, suppliers of systems and components, electricity transmission and distributions operators, heat distributors providers of services, value adders, market players · Forecasting · Integration · Operation · Trading · Environmental monitoring
Gaps identified by users
Several projects as e.g. ESA EOMD projects ENVISOLAR, EO-WINDFARM and EO-HYDRO have shown shortcomings: · Data are hard or costly to access · Form difficult to interpret · Quality information unknown · User involvement in product definition is missing · Delays in data access · Handling of large data amounts · NRT chains of data supply are not reliable enough · Spatial and temporal coverage not optimized for energy needs · Standardization not sufficient · Different data sources difficult to handle · Lack in long-term funding of EO providers, project-based data · Long-term archives not funded
Collaborative Web Content Management System for ECP
The realization of the Web site was supported by ADEME.
· Goals · Provide the ECP with a web based infrastructure that allows multiple persons to effectively contribute content and to collaborate through a single access point · Information lifecycle encompass: creation, edition, management, publication, storage of documents for public or private distribution · Features · Based on the Open-Source Zope / CPS platform · Fully extendable, fast and easy deployment · Best of breed rich services including: single sourcing, indexing, versioning, metadata management, localization & translation, subscription, notification, commenting, directories management (user, groups, directories),, content scheduling and syndication · Benefits · Empower experts to make their information available · Decrease overall costs and publication delays · Presentation consistency improves the value added of the ECP content
