GEOSS and Wind Energy Workshop
The Wind Energy Working Group of the Energy Community of Practices organised a workshop at the European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) in Milano, Italy to create awareness and interest on GEOSS within the wind energy community. This workshop was attended by 50 people. 7 presentations showing different aspects of the links between wind energy and GEOSS were presented. The presentations were followed up by a round-table betweens presenters and attendees on the benefits of GEOSS for wind energy. The exchanges were fruitful and the attendees were convinced by potentialities of a Global Earth Observation System of Systems. Follow the links to access to the presentations: Mark Ahlstrom, CEO of WindLogics (USA), co-chair of Wind Energy Community of Practice (WECP): On WECP and trends in wind energy in America Frans van Hulle, EWEA (BE), member of WECP: Wind power in Europe: trends and challenges Charlotte Bay Hasager, senior scientist, Risoe National Laboratory, DTU (DK), co-chair of WECP: Satellites in offshore wind energy: wind resources and wake analysis Thierry Ranchin, Head of the OMD Team, Ecole des Mines de Paris (FR), Co-chair of the ECP: Wind energy in the GEOSS initiative: user contribution Alessandro Mondini, project member, Carlo Gavazzi Space (IT): Satellite information in European grid and forecasting Per Nielsen, Director EMD International (DK): Wind-index and long term correction of wind data featuring use of satellite data Johannes Schultz-Stellenfleth, senior scientist, German Aerospace Centre, DLR (D): Wind and Ocean Wave Measurements at the FiNO platform sites |
